In my abstract paintings I conduct a playful celebration of duality, designed to surprise and entice the viewer to a different way of thinking. With the intention of awakening a sense of wonder and curiosity, I use both acrylic and spray paint to create a dynamic balance between paired down, even elegant simplicity, and boisterous whimsy. Ideas are explored through the vehicles of contrast and unexpected juxtaposition, for example, careful, precise marks are coupled with those ruled by chance, and opposing colors are layed side by side. In this way I engage the viewer in a lively conversation of color and form, brimming with possibility as it defies any simple definition.
